Robinson M.S. in Mathematical Risk Among the Best in the Nation

The Financial Engineer recently named the Master of Science in Mathematical Risk Management program at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business one of the top financial engineering programs in the nation.

The Financial Engineer ranking is based on six different criteria which measure student quality as well as career outcomes. Out of 46 U.S. programs ranked, Robinson College came in at number 26 overall and 10th among public university programs.

Financial engineering is the study of financial economic theories, using mathematical and statistical methods to understand and manage problems in the financial services industry. This type of research can have a broad impact on the business community, including through such applications as pricing financial securities for risk management purposes or devising financial and investment strategies with specific goals in mind.

“We are pleased that Robinson’s M.S. in Mathematical Risk Management is ranked among the nation’s best financial engineering programs and proud that the program provides our students with the acumen to address contemporary risk management issues,” Robinson College Dean Richard D. Phillips said in a statement.

At Robinson, the M.S. in Mathematical Risk Management program aims to prepare students for management positions in the field of analytical and technical risk management. Past students of this program have gone on to work with leaders in the financial service industry, such as Regions, Bank of America and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta. The program helps participants develop expertise in the areas of mathematical finance, econometrics and corporate risk management.
