Scheller College to Offer Dual MBA Degree Path with MS or Ph.D

A new dual MBA degree offered by the Georgia Institute of Technology – Scheller College of Business will allow students to combine their MBA with an M.S. or Ph.D. degree from the College of Computing or College of Engineering.

The new degree aims to give students an unprecedented interdisciplinary education, ensuring graduates are not only prepared for the business world, but also have a deep knowledge of technology and analytical skillset. “As technology continues to reshape the business world, every industry requires technically savvy business leaders and professionals,” said Scheller College dean, Maryam Alavi. “The dual degree option is one of the many ways Scheller College is helping to close the gap between available skills and marketplace needs.”

The new dual MBA degree will combine the strengths of several of Georgia Tech’s nationally ranked programs, such as the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the School of Aerospace Engineering, among many others. This combination of schools and skills will allow students to gain unique abilities that will give them a competitive edge within the job market.

Laurence Jacobs, associate dean for academic affairs at the College of Engineering, spoke further of the importance of technology education for upcoming graduates. According to Jacobs, it’s not just technology companies, but traditional sectors as well, who are requiring technological know-how at increasing levels. Such a program gives students an education that will meet the growing industry demand for a principled and skilled 21st century leader.

Students in the program will have the opportunity to apply credit hours from Ph.D. or M.S. courses towards their MBA elective requirements, reducing the time it would take to complete both degrees.
