Sawyer School Grad Students Can Enjoy New Space

Graduate students at Suffolk University – Sawyer Business School now have a new space to study, meet or just relax.

New graduate student lounges and a commons area opened this semester, according to a press release from the Sawyer School. The new areas are located on the fifth floor of Sargent Hall, and they feature desks, shared workspaces, huddle areas and study rooms, as well as three classrooms for graduate level courses. Huddle spaces, the commons, the Blue Sky Lounge and study banquettes are open to all. The Graduate Student Lounge, classrooms and study rooms require reservations.

The new space was created for business and law graduate students. It also houses departments and centers including Sawyer Business School Graduate Dean’s Office, Accounting, Center for Executive Education and Finance.

Sargent Hall is part of Suffolk’s campus in downtown Boston, near the city’s financial, government and healthcare districts. Opened in 1999, it is home to the university’s law school. Sargent Hall’s address is 120 Tremont St., about a five-minute walk to the Frank Sawyer Building, where most business school classes are offered, and steps from Boston Common.

The renovation of Sargent Hall was funded by the sale of the Archer and Donahue buildings, according to a 2015 press release from Suffolk.

“The sale also provides resources for us to make important campus improvements that will foster exciting new working relationships among faculty, students and programs,” Suffolk University President Margaret McKenna said in that release.

The Sawyer School’s graduate options include Full-Time, Part-Time and Executive MBA programs.
