Atlanta MBA Programs without GMAT and GRE Requirements

There are a lot of reasons why the GMAT/GRE can cause an MBA applicant to wake up in a cold sweat. The test can be expensive to take and prepare for, extensive time must be invested in preparation, and in the case of many working professionals it may have been years since they’ve last taken a test.

The fear of the GMAT/GRE exam may even be enough to make professionals think twice about earning their MBA. Rather than let the looming test be an obstacle for your goals, it may be possible to find a  program which does not require a GMAT/GRE score as part of admission. Considering the amount of experience and work required to obtain a degree, many of these programs do not require students to submit GMAT/GRE scores as part of their application or at least give them the opportunity to waive the requirement.

Goizeta Business School- Emory University

If you are interested in applying for the Weekend or Modular Executive MBA Program at Emory’s Goizeta Business School, you can request a waiver for the GMAT/GRE requirement.

The Evening MBA at Goizeta is designed to give students the same experience as a full-time MBA, but with the opportunity to fit classes around the student’s professional obligations. While the program provides an education in business fundamentals, it is also vastly customizable, with more than 90 electives and activities across 20+ academic concentrations.

The Modular MBA gives students the opportunity to partake in a 20-month academic experience, featuring nine on-campus residencies and options to take courses online.

Applicants can request to waive the GMAT/GRE application requirement by demonstrating in other ways their preparedness for a challenging curriculum. Factors such as prior grades and academic coursework and professional experience are considered when evaluating the waiver decision.

Applicants to the Goizeta Weekend or Modular eMBA program looking to waive the GMAT/GRE requirement must submit:

  • A completed GMAT/GRE Waiver, along with scanned univeristy transcripts, a current resume/CV, and a one-page written request
  • Admissions Interview, offered by counselors around the country or via phone/Skype
  • Four response essays
  • At least two professional letters of recommendation

 J. Mack Robinson College of Business — Georgia State University

If you are a professional looking to avoid the rigor of taking the GMAT/GRE, the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University offers the possibility to waive the test requirement for the Executive MBA program.

The Robinson College eMBA provides an accelerated course of study which allows students to obtain their degree in just seventeen months. Classes are held every other week on Friday and Saturday, allowing students to earn their degree without giving up their career. In addition to being a highly ranked program with distinguished faculty, the Robinson eMBA program focuses on leadership and global business. The course culminates with a two-week business residency for students, which have in the past included tours of Japan, South Africa, Spain and many other countries around the world.

In order to apply for the Executive MBA program at Robinson College, students should have:

  • A minimum of at least seven years full-time professional experience — including management experience
  • A 4-year degree from an accredited university, along with proof of the ability to handle a rigorous academic experience, ie. college transcripts and GMAT scores
  • Additional evaluated criteria, such as contribution to the class/program, maturity and teamwork
