Loyola Sellinger Lets MBAs Complete Degree Overseas

As we covered in a recent primer, MBA programs around the nation are meeting the needs of an increasingly global business environment by offering students expanded opportunities to study abroad.  But few schools have taken the trend as far as Loyola University, which is now letting its MBA students complete their degrees abroad.

Loyola University has joined a group of 22 U.S.-based Jesuit schools in a unique agreement to allow students to complete their degrees at five Jesuit institutions located in Spain, Korea, Taiwan, and Peru.

“We recognize that demanding careers require many of our graduate business students to be globally transient in an increasingly interdependent world,” said Sellinger dean Karyl B. Leggio in a recent Loyola press release. “Those students should not be forced to choose between a degree and upward mobility, and I’m honored that we are part of the network of Jesuit schools that has taken a unique leadership role to address this issue.”

The new international options will add to a standing agreement between 22 US-based Jesuit schools, where students have been able to complete their degrees and transfer credits for years.  Among them are schools in several of MetroMBA’s covered metros including Boston, Washington DC and New York, like Boston College, Fordham University, and St. Joseph’s University.

If you’re in the D.C. area and looking for the option to relocate to another metro or internationally, Loyola could make a strong choice.  51% of applicants now choose their MBA program based on the strength of the local economy, and the flexibility of Loyola’s program could be ideally suited to students looking to start their post-MBA careers abroad, or in another US metro.
