Drucker Professor Jenny Darroch Considered Influential Scholar of Management

A new study in the Journal of Knowledge Management examined the 100 articles that have been most cited in top knowledge management journals. There was a familiar name across the byline of two articles on that list: Jenny Darroch, marketing professor at the Drucker School of Management.

Darroch is one of only a handful of researchers to have multiple articles identified by the study. Her 2005 article “Knowledge management, innovation and firm performance,” from the Journal of Knowledge Management, ranks 18th on the list with 329 citations.Her 2003 article “Developing a measure of knowledge management behaviors and practices,” also from the Journal of Knowledge Management, is 56th on the list with 194 citations. Drucker Professor Awarded AMA Lifetime Achievement Award

The American Marketing Association has awarded Drucker School of Business Professor Bernie Jaworski, the 2015 Vijay Mahajan award. Jaworski serves as the Peter F. Drucker Chair in Management and the Liberal Arts at the Drucker School. The Mahajan Award is given by the AMA‘s Marketing Strategy Special Interest Group. The award honors the professor for his leadership and career impact on marketing strategy research and practice.

The Vijay Mahajan award was created in 2000 by the American Marketing Association Foundation. The award honors the career contributions and advancements in marketing strategy by marketing professor Vijay Mahajan. The award was endowed by Mahajan’s former colleagues, doctoral students, co-authors and friends. The goal of this award is to inspire marketing educators through their work in marketing strategies.

Drucker Announces New Dean

Tom Horan, director of Claremont Graduate University’s Center for Information Systems and Technology and co-director of the Transdisciplinary Studies Program, has been selected to serve as the next Dean of the Drucker School of Management. The current Dean, Larry Crosby, announced his retirement, effective on June 30. Over the next two months, Dean Crosby will work with Horan, Drucker faculty and staff and school-university working group to ensure that his momentum of success will continue.

While serving as dean of the Peter F. Drucker School of Management, Horan also will continue to serve as the director of CISAT. Under his guidance, CISAT and Drucker faculties will explore natural synergies in academic programming. CISAT will continue to  offer technical masters and doctoral degrees.

Drucker Students Participate in San Fran Corporate Tour

Eleven students from the Drucker School of Business participated in a three-day trip to San Francisco to explore career paths and meet with leaders from California top companies. Students were taken on the trip by the Drucker School Office of Professional Development and Alumni Relations. The trip took place over the Spring Break and was sponsored by Drucker School alumni, who helped with covering the cost of hotels and keeping travel expenses low for the students.

Students who participated in the trip visited nine businesses in industries such as technology, human resources, manufacturing, gaming, engineering, retail, and microfinance. At each business, students met with leaders from different departments and functions and were introduced to a broad-cross section of management roles and responsibilities.

Drucker Holds Student Life Webinar

The Drucker School of management will be holding an upcoming webinar for prospective students. The webinar will be held April 1 and will give prospective students an insight in to student life as a Drucker MBA students. Participants in the webinar will have the opportunity to hear first-hand what it is like to be a Drucker student, opportunities that are available for Drucker students on and off campus, how students handle work, life and school responsibilities and the rest of the ins and outs of being a Drucker students.

The event is free to attend and is open to all prospective students. Those interested in attending the webinar can complete a registration form online. Webinars are held online. The only thing needed to attend the event is an internet connection and headphones or speakers. More information will be sent to you about accessing the webinar after registering online.

Final App Deadline for Drucker FT MBA April 1

The final application deadline for the Full-Time MBA program at the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University is April 1. This application deadline is for the MBA program that will begin in the Fall 2015. Although Drucker admissions operates on a rolling basis, this last deadline is slightly more competitive, although there will be sufficient room for strong candidates.

Applicants who apply after Round 3 will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Applicants must complete the online application form and provide the admissions office with the required supporting documents by the deadline to be considered for admissions review.
