Smeal Names First Honor and Integrity Director
Penn State University’s Smeal College of Business has appointed Jennifer Eury to the position of Director of Honor and Integrity. In her new position, Eury will oversee the development of the college’s honor and integrity efforts and assist with their implementation. She will help execute new policies related to honor and integrity, organize training and orientation, and lead marketing and communication efforts about the college’s honor and integrity initiatives.
The Director of Honor and Integrity position has been newly created by Smeal. The college and the University both focused on the development of integrity and ethical behavior in their respective strategic plans. Charles H. Whiteman, the John and Becky Surma Dean of Smeal, explained that Smeal created the new position to support Smeal’s development: “Honor and integrity are critical to our mission as a leading business school, and we wanted to increase our focus on these important values by creating a position that would centralize, coordinate, and expand our efforts.”
Eury previously served as the director of alumni relations for Penn State Smeal, managing outreach and communication efforts directed towards the 74,000 alumni of the college. She holds a master’s degree in higher education, and is currently working towards a doctorate in higher education with a minor in management and organization.
Smeal has existing programs to develop honor and integrity. All members of the Smeal community are invited to sign the college’s honor code each semester. The code holds Smeal faculty, staff, and students to high ethical standards. In addition to the honor code, the school offers courses that address ethical issues in the business world, and the school’s G. Albert Shoemaker Program in Business Ethics supports business ethics research.
