Wharton School Soars in Financial Times Global MBA Ranking

The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania recently came in fourth out of one hundred and fifty nine participants in the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking for 2016.

This is the second year in a row that Wharton reached the top five, having had a third place ranking in 2014.

Participants in the rankings are expected to meet strict criteria and to possess international accreditation. All of the MBA programs that are considered must have been active for at least four years, and have at least 30 graduates per year. Judges survey alumni who have emerged from the program with their degrees in 2011, in addition to collecting data from the schools such as diversity of staff, gender and nationality of students and board members, and the extent of the global reach of the program. Notably, schools with a 50:50 gender ratio achieve the highest rating in this category. Wharton reported 43% female students and 20% female faculty.

Graduates of Wharton’s MBA program earned $177,877 in the weighted salary category, which is the average salary received by alumni three years after graduation. This amount represents a 84% salary increase from what the students earned before beginning the program.

Wharton received a 95 in the value category, which compares the average salary with fees and other costs incurred during the course of study. With 89 PhD faculty, 35% international faculty, and 17% female board members, the school was also leader in these categories.

In addition to the Global MBA, the Financial Times also publishes rankings of EMBA, Master in Finance, Online MBA, and Master in Management degrees.
