USD School of Business Co-Hosts Innovation Event with Tijuana Innovadora

USD School of Business

In celebration of the citywide Tijuana Innovadora 2016 Creativa event, the University of San Diego School of Business co-hosted a half-day PITCH Bootcamp, Véndete Como Emprendedor. The exclusive bootcamp was designed for budding entrepreneurs from both the Baja and San Diego Communities and took place on Oct. 28, 2016.

For the event, USD invited business venture projects to the campus for an opportunity to exhibit their projects and learn how to refine their business ideas and practice selling to potential investors. USD experts covered lean venture model design and perfecting your pitch. Top projects from the bootcamp were awarded the opportunity to showcase and exhibit their venture at Tijuana Innovadora 2016, which takes place Nov. 3–10, 2016.

Participants in the bootcamp also have an opportunity to compete in the University of San Diego annual V2 Pitch Competition. The V2 Competition is a campus-wide entrepreneurship event that is open to global innovators every year.

In addition to the bootcamp, USD’s partnership with Tijuana Innovadora extends to presentations by three School of Business professors, according to a press release from the university.

  • Dean Jaime Alonso Gómez will talk on La Escencia de un Emprendedor (The Essence of an Entrepreneur). His talk will cover such topics as the attributes an entrepreneur needs to compete in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Jennifer Mueller, an associate professor of management, will talk about creative change and how contemporary leaders desire but reject creative solutions and how to overcome resistance.
  • Moriah Meyskens, a clinical professor of management, will give a talk on La Creatividad Como un Agente de Cambio Social (Creativity As An Agent of Social Change). Her presentation will focus on summarizing the social innovation mindset and how to use creativity to solve world issues.
