History of the University of San Diego, Knauss School of Business
The University of San Diego was established in 1949 and the School of Business opened in 1972. The school’s degree programs have achieved the highest level of international recognition by being fully accredited by AACSB International for over 30 years. The Knauss School of Business has also been ranked among the top graduate and undergraduate business schools in the United States and the world. With more than 9,000 students from 85 countries and 50 states, the University of San Diego is the youngest independent institution on the U.S. News & World Report list of top 100 universities in the United States.
The University of San Diego is located in the Linda Vista neighborhood of San Diego. The 180-acre campus overlooks Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean and has been consistently rated one of the most beautiful college campuses in the country.
The campus is centrally located in San Diego, only 5 miles away from the San Diego International Airport, 6 miles from the Gaslamp/Downtown San Diego, and 10 miles from La Jolla.
The Knauss Center for Business Education complex is a 120,000+ square foot, brand new, state of art facility (opening Fall 2022). This building was made possible by the generous donation of Don Knauss, former CEO of Clorox and current chair of USD’s Board of Trustees, and his wife, Ellie. The building features a Finance Lab; Data Analytics Lab; Innovation Catalyzer; Business Advisory Suite; Student Success Center; a cafe; theatre; and technology-enhanced classrooms that are built to facilitate project-based and peer-to-peer learning.
The Knauss School of Business has nearly 100 full-time faculty members and an additional 130 adjunct, part-time faculty who typically work in industry full-time and bring their professional experience into the classroom.
Approximately 350 students are enrolled in the Knauss School graduate business programs. of that total approximately 40% are enrolled in classes part-time.
Graduate Management Degree Offerings at the Knauss School of Business
The Knauss School offers a Full-Time and Part-Time MBA program. The highly customizable MBA curriculum allows students to choose an optional concentration or a dual degree with one of the school’s master’s degree programs.
The MS in Real Estate and MS in Accounting/Taxation can be completed at a full-time or part-time pace. The MS in Executive Leadership and MS in Supply Chain Management are both specifically designed for working professionals.
Knauss also offers two STEM-designated master’s degree programs – an MS in Business Analytics and MS in Finance.
