Lerner College to Offer Executive Development Program for Women

Development Program

The University of Delaware’s Lerner College of Business continues to strengthen its commitment to diversity through a new executive development program for women.

The High-Potential Women’s Leadership Forum will provide participants with the tools to advance into the C-Suite, one of which is an executive education certificate upon completion of the program.

Faculty and staff have developed the forum with a basis in their collective experience conquering the gender barrier in business. Professor Wendy Smith is Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior at Lerner and one of the program’s founders. A recognized thought leader in the field, she is the author of several scholarly articles and a recent TedX speaker. Her research focuses on “strategic paradoxes”, or the methods through which senior teams solve internal conflicts.

Barbara Roche, an executive coach and consultant, is another of the program’s originators. A specialist in organizational development and workplace learning, Roche has provided guidance to such companies as JP Morgan and Cigna.

Amanda Bullough is an Assistant Professor of Management at Lerner. She is an accomplished researcher and instructor of women’s entrepreneurship and cross-cultural management, and serves on the editorial board of Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice.

Tara Simpson, Organizational Development Manager at Beebe Healthcare, said of the forum’s facilitators, “[They] have been a tremendous influence on me and my leadership role. I was able to learn so much about myself and develop the skills necessary to be an effective leader.”

The program takes place over three phases, beginning in March and concluding in April. The deadline for application is February 22, 2017.
