Fox School Student Joseph T. Pickett Earns Top Score on CPA Exam
Fox School of Business at Temple University has continued to prove its excellence in preparing students for the business world. Fox School student alum Joseph T. Pickett demonstrated this excellence with his score on the 2016 CPA exam. Pickett score among the top 15 of those who took the exam in all of Pennsylvania.
In February 2017, the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants released the score statistics and extended their congratulations to top scorers. The exam consisted of four sections: Auditing and Attestation; Business Environment and Concepts; Financial Accounting and Reporting and Regulation. Overall scores were determined by combining scores on these sections.
In 2016, the Public Accounting Report named Fox’s MAcc program number one in the Greater Philadelphia area. The program has a 96 percent job placement rate.
Pickett is currently working as an audit associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the largest professional service firms in the world. Pickett attributed his success on the exam and subsequent professional success to his education.
“The Fox School and the MAcc program prepared me very well for my career and the CPA exam by facilitating the development of my soft skills in addition to my technical accounting abilities. The MAcc program in particular is the perfect stepping stone towards success on the CPA exam, as each semester focuses on a particular portion of the exam. I would not be in the position I am today without the education I received at the Fox School and in the MAcc program,” Pickett said.
Fox representatives were proud to claim Pickett as one of their own. According to Sheri Risler, director of the MAcc program, “The Department of Accounting is proud of the outstanding caliber of our graduates. Joseph’s high score is a testament to the quality of MAcc students and the merits of the program’s curriculum.”
