Stanford MBA App Deadline
The deadline for the second round of applications for the Stanford Graduate School of Business MBA program is Jan. 7, 2015. This deadline is for the Fall 2015 class. Applicants who submit al required documents for admission by the Jan. 7 deadline will receive an admissions decision by March 25, 2015.
There is no preferred curriculum for undergraduate study for those who wish to apply to the MBA program. Instead, the admissions office looks at how an applicant has challenged his or herself throughout their academic career and how they have performed. A U.S. bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required for admission to the Stanford MBA Program. Degrees from international universities offering only three-year baccalaureate degrees are valid equivalents.
SFSU Holds MBA Open House
The San Francisco State University College of Business will be holding an MBA Open House. The event will be held Jan. 8, 2015. It will be held at the San Francisco State Downtown Campus from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The open house will cover the MBA, Master of Science in Accountancy and Executive MBA programs at San Francisco State University. The MBA program offers full-time or part-time options for students to pursue their general MBA degree. Students also have the option of completing a concentration in sustainable business, or choose an area of emphasis, including ethics and compliance and hospitality and tourism management.
BU App Deadline Jan. 7
The second application deadline for August entry date for the Two-Year MBA, MS-MBA and the Professional Evening MBA programs at Boston University School of Management is Jan. 7, 2015. Admissions decisions will be made for the Two-Year and MS-MBA programs by March 6. An admissions decision will be made for the Professional Evening MBA program by Feb. 6.
To be considered for an admissions decision, applications must be completed entirely by the date of the deadline. In order to complete the application applicants must complete the online application form, pay the $125 application fee, complete two required essays, submit resume and two letters of recommendation and provide official university-level transcripts and GMAT/GRE scores.
Liautaud To Host Alumni Panel in January
UIC College of Business Administration and the Liautaud Graduate School of Business are hosting an Alumni Panel on January 5, from 4PM – 6PM in Douglas Hall, Room 320. The exclusive event gives attendees the opportunity to hear from alumni from all three master’s programs (MBA, MSA, MIS) as they share their stories of how UIC Liautaud changed their career direction and its trajectory.

Columbia Announces New Assistant Dean
Zelon Crawford has been selected to serve as Columbia Business School’s new Assistant Dean and Dean of Students for the Full-Time MBA Program. She will take her position January 5, 2015.
Crawford brings more than 15 years of experience in top business schools and companies to Columbia. Some of these schools and companies include NYU Stern, American Express, and Accenture. She most recently served as director of graduate business programs and recruitment for Villanova School of Business.
Graziadio Welcomes Member of NHL Hall of Fame
Graziadio School of Business and Management will welcome Luc Robitaille as part of its Executive Leadership Series. Robitaille is the president of business operations for the Los Angeles Kings hockey team. The event will be held Feb. 26, 2015. Registration for the event includes a ticket to a NHL game.
Luc Robitaille is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. He is the highest-scoring left wing in NHL history and the all-time Kings leader in goals scored. He is in his seventh season as Kings president, business operations.
Anderson Assoc. Dean Receives EMBAC Award
Associate dean of the Fully Employed MBA Programs at Anderson School of Management, Gonzalo Freixes, received the 2014 Bud Fackler Service Award from the EMBA Council. Freixes is also the faculty director of the Applied Management Research Program and the former associate dean of UCLA Anderson’s Executive MBA.
The council named the award after Bud Fackler, the late director of the EMBA program at the University of Chicago and one of the council’s founders. The Bud Fackler Service Award recognizes contributions to EMBAC and to EMBA programs worldwide, including efforts to help other programs, to share best practices and to raise the quality of EMBA programs.
Stillman Leadership Class Meets COO of Wakefern Food Corp
The Leadership Class of 2018 from The Stillman School of Business met with Joe Sheridan, a University Regent and the COO of Wakefern Food Corporation (owners of ShopRite). Sheridan presented the group with two useful books, Not Quite What I was Planning: Six Word Memoirs and The Five Temptations of a CEO.
The Leadership class consists of Members of the Leadership Development Honors Program. These students are prepared to be future global leaders. This is accomplished by an intensive program that exposes students to a unique framework of diverse experiential and scholastic learning that allows them to stretch themselves to achieve their fullest potential in their professional and personal life.
D’Amore-McKim Holds Part-Time MBA Webinar
The D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University will be holding an information webinar for its part-time MBA program. The part-time MBA webinar will be held Jan. 9, 2015. It will begin at noon and will last one hour.
The part-time MBA program allows students to complete their MBA degree in as little as two years or as long as seven years. Students have the choice of committing to courses just one night a week, or to accelerate their degree by taking multiple classes that fit their schedule, including classes online and on Saturdays.
Lucas Holds MBA Open House
Lucas Graduate School of Business will be holding an upcoming MBA open house. The event will be held Jan. 17, 2015. It will be held from 8 a.m. to noon. The information event will cover both the working professional MBA program and the early career MBA program.
During the event, attendants will be able to learn GMAT/GRE strategies from David Espiritu, Master Tutor/Instructor, Princeton Review, enjoy two mini-lectures from prominent Lucas faculty, hear about career preparation and employment opportunities and meet current Lucas MBA students and alumni. A continental breakfast will be provided to those who attend the event.
CSULB Receives Grant from Dept. of Ed.
California State University, Long Beach has received a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The total of the grant is $188,470. The grant will go towards strengthening Global Education at CSULB.
The grant will help fund the global education initiative titled, “Weaving Language and Global Competencies throughout the CSULB Curricula.” CSULB’s Global Studies Institute will lead the program. It will bring together departments from three colleges at the university, to strengthen global competencies and add degree value for students. It will also provide students with the global literacy necessary to survive in their careers of the borderless 21st century.
Lehigh Introduces Master of Science in Managment
Lehigh University’s College of Business and Economics has designed the all-new M2, the Master of Science in Management program. The program will begin in August 2015. This is the first program of this kind to be launched in the region.
M2 is a full-time, ten-month program that will provide a solid business foundation to recent graduates with liberal arts or scientific backgrounds. The program will help these students define their career goals and develop a foundational business skill set. The goal is that the program will give students a significant edge in the search for high-level employment opportunities in a variety of fields.
Sloan Holds Online MBA Admissions Chat
MIT Sloan School of Management will be holding an online MBA Admissions Chat. The online information event will be held Dec. 15, 2014. The online chat will begin at noon.
During the online chat, attendants will have the opportunity to join members of the admissions committee and current students in conversation about the MBA program. Prospective students will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding admissions, curriculum, student life and career support during the online chat.

Cal State Long Beach Saturday MBA Program Structure
The Cal State Long Beach Saturday MBA Program offers an efficient program structure that allows students to complete the whole 48-unit program in 23 months beginning in the fall semester.
The program’s course structure is built on the premise that an integrated analytical perspective of all business disciplines is needed in order to be successful. Due to the cohort nature of the program, all students take classes at the same time. New cohorts begin each August. The program is delivered in a hybrid delivery which offers flexibility bringing together state-of-the-art online learning with on-campus classes and experiences.
Curriculum
Students take two courses at a time on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In the first part of the program, students learn key functional concepts and critical thinking skills through a set of discipline-based courses. The core business curriculum integrates the impact of disruptive technology in business decision making. The second portion of the program focuses on Sustainability and the Business Organization, prompting students to grapple with complex problems that businesses face in terms of sustainability.
All Cal State Long Beach Saturday MBA students participate in a three-day orientation at a downtown Long Beach luxury hotel. The orientation features team building and case study activities as well as helping to career skills workshops.
In the first portion of the program, participants will learn and reinforce key functional concepts and develop critical thinking skills through a set of discipline-based courses. The advanced courses allow for a more in-depth analysis of different topics that broaden the students’ perspective of the nature of sustainable business practices. Participants proceed through the Saturday MBA program as a cohort with organized teams for both study and project purposes.
In keeping with the sustainability focus of the program, participants study how businesses in other parts of the world comply with international sustainability regulations and the challenge of striking a balance between sustaining communities through business and remaining economically viable. The culminating experience of the program is a course called Integrated Analyses.
Class Profile
Students in the Cal State Long Beach Saturday are, on average, 34-years old. Students in the program enter with an average GPA of 3.14. About 68 percent of the most recent class identifies as female, with 32 percent of students identifying as male. GMAT scores among Saturday MBA students range is 530-620.
Careers
The graduate business school offers both a Career Coach and an Employer and Internship Development person that work exclusively for our graduate program.
Our Career Coach provides the full spectrum of career planning to help students as they seek to make career changes and move up in their companies. It includes workshops on networking and interviewing as well as self-assessments to clarify career goals.
In addition, there is an active Graduate Business Association that links alumni with students through workshops and networking events during the academic year. The graduate program also offers students an opportunity to be part of the CB Incubator and the Innovation Challenge, which can result in starting your own business.
Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid
The complete 23 month Saturday MBA program will cost $48,000, which breaks down to $1,000 per unit. Tuition includes all textbooks and required instructional materials, orientation residential, on-campus parking, meals for days when students are on-campus, and the cost of the international trip. Students are responsible for round trip airfare and transportation to and from the airports.
Financial aid is available for the Saturday MBA program. Graduate assistantships in the College of Business are targeted to MBA/MS students. Opportunities include working as a research assistant for a faculty member or as a graduate assistant for a department or program. Other types of assistantships that depend on students’ areas of expertise are also available.

Admissions
Admission to the Saturday MBA guidelines are as follows:
The Saturday MBA program must have maintained a GPA of at least 2.75 in their previously earned undergraduate degree. Those submitting GMAT scores need to have scored a minimum of 500 with a 4.0 score in the essay and integrated reasoning sections. If students elect to submit a GRE instead of GMAT they must have scored At least 150 in each verbal and quantitative section and at least 4.0 in the essay section. There is a mandatory $70 application fee.
GMAT waivers are available for select students. If you received your undergraduate degree in Business Administration from an AACSB accredited institution, with at least a 3.0 GPA you would be considered for a test waiver. Otherwise, you may qualify for a test waiver with at least 4 years of significant managerial work experience.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

On December 17 from 9 am – 10 am, international students interested in learning more about the University of Illinois at Chicago’s MBA program may attend this online webinar to learn more about the school’s degree offerings and admissions process for international students. McDonough’s MBA Employment Report Reflects Increase in Job Offers
MBA Career Center at the McDonough School of Business released its 2014 MBA Employment Report. This year’s annual report shows encouraging figures that show increases in employer engagement, compensation and the impact of the school’s career services on students.

Leavey Holds MBA Information Session
The Leavey School of Business is holding an information session for its MBA program. The event will be held Dec. 11, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will be held at the Santa Clara University campus.
The evening MBA program at the Leavey School of Business has a newly revised curriculum and program structure. This new curriculum gives students coursework that integrates with other courses across disciplines. Developed in consultation with Silicon Valley executives, the new concentrations (now a required component of the Evening MBA) are focused with specific career paths in mind.
LMU Management Students Help Local Hospital
Management students from Loyola Marymount University have helped to bring an important grant to a local hospital. The downtown hospital was looking for a way to increase the number of health professionals coming from Boyle Heights and South Los Angeles.
The students in Professor Charles Vance’s management consulting class were tasked with producing a portion of what has become the California Hospital Medical Center’s grant proposal. The joint effort resulted in an award of $150,000, which the hospital is now using to implement the program.
