Anderson Host the 9th Net Impact Consulting Challenge

The UCLA Anderson School of Management hosted the finals of the 9th Annual Net Impact Consulting Challenge. NICC offers MBA students an opportunity to help solve the challenges that local nonprofits and for-profit social ventures face across a variety of functional areas, such as marketing, finance, operations and human resources.

MBAs are paired with organizations and work with them for two and a half weeks, concluding in case competition-style presentations that are judged by a panel of local nonprofit and management consultants. Organizations benefit from students’ strategic insights while the students receive vital experience and exposure to board service, nonprofit management and other forms of social entrepreneurship.

The first place team of Katie Kroeger-Davis (FEMBA ’16), Nadine Martini (FEMBA ’16), Nick Salameh (FEMBA ’16) and Victoria Verstegen (FEMBA ’16) was paired with Worksite Wellness LA, an organization that works to improve the health status of low-income, medically underserved families through workplaces in Los Angeles County.

The MBA team created a marketing strategy for WWLA’s brochure and website, a lead list and sales pitch to support business development, a revenue benchmarking tool and a new business tracking process supported by CRM tools. For their efforts, the first place team received a prize of $5,000.

Since 2006, NICC has been emblematic of Anderson’s commitment to raising awareness about the value of the social enterprise, public service and nonprofit sectors. This year, 85 students from Anderson and the Fielding School of Public Health contributed more than 1,000 hours of consulting support to 19 organizations.
