Marshall Students Match Musicians at Student Startup Madness
While the Trojan basketball team gears up for March Madness, USC Marshall School of Management students and musicians Vincent Fong and Thomas Honeyman are preparing for some madness of their own.
Fong and Honeyman co-founded FindMySong.com along with USC student and alumni. The company has been selected for this year’s “Student Startup Madness,” an entrepreneurship tournament at Austin’s South By Southwest (SXSW) festival. This competition gives student hatched start-ups the chance to pitch to potential investors, make connections and learn more about evolving technologies.SXSW, a music and art festival, is the perfect launching pad for FindMySong, an app designed to be the Match.com for musicians. Users set up and search out profiles based on skills and experience; after finding your new drummer or trying out a new singer, you can upload music samples to the site and work on new songs together.
Both Fong and Honeyman agree that the Marshall experience caters specially to entrepreneurship, and the support they’ve received from the university has been invaluable.
