Graziadio Releases Infograph on LA Metro MBA’s

The Graziadio School of Business blog has released an infographic on who in the Los Angeles metro area are attending graduate business school. The blog post cites information on several other metro areas as well as information from the Graduate Management Admission Council’s latest prospective student survey. The post was written by the Graziadio Career Management Center.

“The differences among U.S. metropolitan areas and their residents who were considering graduate business school are illuminated in the Graduate Management Admission Council’s latest prospective student survey, which compiled data from 12,000 aspiring MBAs or those seeking specialized master’s in business globally taking the GMAT throughout 2012 and 2013.

In the Los Angeles metro area, and the geographic area (along with Orange County) that Pepperdine University’s business school serves, careers in products and services are gaining in interest among its 12,239 GMAT test-takers.

According the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation, Los Angeles is seeing the strongest employment gains since the end of recession. Health services, leisure and hospitality, and professional services in scientific and technical fields are projected as the region’s leading growth industries. This translates into increased opportunities for those with advanced degrees.”

The infographic shows that in 2014, 12, 239 Los Angeles metro area residents took the GMAT exam. Most of those who took the exam were between the ages of 25 and 30. Those who took the exam were 58 percent male and 42 percent female.

Also, the infograph cites that 87 percent of those perspective business school students are considering an MBA program, while only 30 percent are considering a specialized masters degree program in business. Fifty-two percent of those prospective students are considering a full-time, two-year MBA program.
