New Merage School Building Complete

Construction for the new building for the Paul Merage School of Business at UC, Irvine has been completed. The University will hold a grand opening celebration for the new business school building on May 8, 2015. An open house for current students, alumni and prospective students will be held from 2 to 6:30 p.m. This interested in attending the open house can register online.

The University broke ground for the new building on Jan. 9, 2013. The building is the first new facility added to the business school campus since 1989. The building was constructed as part of The Merage School’s Building for the Future campaign. The campaign is a $50 million building initiative that plans to better the school through new student learning opportunities, faculty research, community engagement, and facilities and grounds.

The new Merage School building is a  five-story structure that includes a coffeehouse and café, a 300-seat auditorium, study rooms, high-tech classrooms, a trading and technology lab, a colloquia room with an outdoor terrace, a career resource library, conference and dining facilities and a 4,000 square foot “grand terrace” overlooking the new courtyard central to the Merage School campus.

UC Irvine called the new building, “a showcase for Orange County’s premier business community and the partnerships launched between the Merage School and the entrepreneurs, executives and philanthropists who have supported our efforts.”

Several large corporations including, Sage North America, Charles Schwab & Co. Inc., Taco Bell Corporation and Wells Fargo Foundation contributed funds towards the School’s campaign. Other individual contributors include, alumnus Thomas Antunez III ’05, The Beall Family Foundation, Charles and Twyla Martin and Members of the Dean’s Leadership Circle.
