Cox Honors Five Alumni

Cox School of Business - Southern Methodist University

The Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University recently bestowed honors on five alumni at Cox’s annual Distinguished Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni Awards Luncheon in the Collins Executive Center on the SMU campus. The school presented Outstanding Young Alumni Awards to Kyle Miller and John Relton, and gave Distinguished Alumni awards to Stephen Arata, Thaddeus Arroyo, and Kim Butler. The honorees were selected by an alumni selection committee from a pool of nominations submitted to the SMU Cox Alumni Association.

Kyle Miller founded Silver Hill Energy Partners in 2011, and currently serves as the company’s president and CEO. Before founding Silver Hill, he served as the principal and senior vice president of Energy Trust Partners, and served as a vice president of Energy Spectrum Advisors. He is a member of SMU’s 21st Century Council, and the SMU Mustang Club Board of Directors.

John Relton founded Strait Capital Company, Ltd. in 2007, and currently serves as the company’s managing director. He previously held the position of chief financial and compliance officer for a Dallas-based hedge fund complex after beginning his career at KPMG. He serves on the SMU Cox Accounting Alumni and Professional Advisory Board.

Stephen Arata is a distinguished figure in the energy industry. He became the CEO of Caiman energy on April 1, 2015, after working for the company since 2010. He previously served as the CFO for Regency Energy Partners, and held positions at UBS Investment Bank in Dallas and London.

Thaddeus Arroyo specializes in telecommunications. He currently serves as the CEO of AT&T Mexico. He was appointed to the position in January 2015 after previously serving as AT&T’s president of technology development and CIO. Before working at AT&T, Arroyo served as the CIO for Cingular Wireless. He is a member of Cox’s Executive Board.

Kim Butler is a major player in the Dallas brokerage market. She is the director of leasing for Hall Financial. She was previously responsible for the Dallas region for Transwestern and Koll Management Services. She was also honored this year with the Stemmons Service Award by the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors, the highest honor bestowed by the regional commercial real estate brokerage business. She also graduated third in her class when she received her MBA from Cox.
