Cranfield Recognizes Successful Alumni

Cranfield School of Management recently held an awards ceremony to honor the achievements and contributions of some of their most successful alumni, according a press release from the school. The annual ceremony, which this year recognised four MBA alumni, is held to demonstrate Cranfield’s global impact as well as celebrate the contributions of its alumni so that they might serve as role models for new or current students.

Dominic von Trotha Taylor, MBA 1990, received the Distinguished Alumnus Award at the ceremony. Taylor is the chief executive of PayPoint Plc after having joined the company when it was just a startup in 1997. Paypoint operates over 28,000 convenience shops in the United Kingdom and handles over £14 billion each year from around 800,000 consumer transactions. Taylor also served as an officer in the Royal Navy for 12 years before starting his studies at Cranfield.

Paul O’Callaghan, MBA 2011, received the Excellence in Achievement Award for Recent Graduates, given to those who have made significant progress in their careers within a decade of graduating and who have the highest potential for success in the future. O’Callaghan is the CEO of WestAfricaENRG, a renewable energy company that operates throughout all of West Africa. He also frequently comments on the developing economies of the world, especially those in West Africa.

Glenn Collinson, MBA 1994, was awarded the Entrepreneur Alumnus of the Year Award. Collinson co-founded Cambridge Silicon Radio Ltd and remained on the board of directors that guided the business through its listing as a public company from 2004 to 2007. He led the growth through sales and marketing activities, leading the company to dominate the Bluetooth chip market by 2004 with a share of over 50%.
