Claremont’s Masters of Financial Engineering Program Receives Top Ranking

QuantNet recently ranked Claremont University’s Drucker School of Business’ Masters of Financial Engineering (MFE) program among the top 3 in the state of California, and in the top 25 of MFE programs in the country.

MFE education combines expertise in finance, economics and engineering. Students learn quantitative analysis of financial instruments and markets by acquiring skills in advanced mathematical and computational methods.

Graduates of MFE programs succeed in regulatory agencies, financial institutions, and corporations, leading their teams in risk management. The Drucker School’s MFE degree is a partnership with the University’s Institute of Mathematical Sciences. Students have the opportunity to study alongside Ph.D. students in mathematics, with the goal of mastering the technical skill sets to create and monitor various complex financial products. MFE candidates combine these skills with those in the finance component of the program, in which they acquire tools for strategic planning and leadership in management.

Though it’s strongly preferred, applicants are not required to possess work experience to be admitted to the program. Aid is offered in the form of competitive merit-based fellowships, and students can choose to complete the program in as little as three semesters or as many as four.

Graduates with an MFE are distinguished from others with MBA degrees in that they possess a level of technical proficiency equal to that of graduates with a Ph.D. in Mathematics. More information is available at Drucker’s Financial Engineering homepage.
