Lewis Steps Into Dean’s Role at Cass

After two months as dean-elect, Marianne W. Lewis has now officially taken over as dean at Cass Business School – City University, London, according to a press release from the school.

Lewis comes to Cass from the University of Cincinnati’s Carl H. Lindner College of Business. There, she served as associate dean and professor of management. She succeeds Professor Steven Haberman as Cass dean.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Lewis said she was drawn to the “energy and momentum” of Cass, where she spent time as a Fulbright Scholar in 2014.

“The faculty, administrators and community supporters that I met exuded commitment — to their work, to student learning, to London and to the business world,” she said in the Financial Times interview. “Such dedication has positioned Cass for even greater global impact.”

In the Cass press release, Lewis noted that she is joining the school at a time of growth and expansion. Recent honors for Cass include being named 54th in the world in The Economist’s ranking of full-time MBA programs. And in the Financial Times’ recent global ranking of Executive MBA programs, Cass was No. 32 overall and first in the UK for female representation.

Lewis holds an undergraduate degree in business administration from Tusculum College in Tennessee, an MBA from Indiana University and a PhD in management from the University of Kentucky. Her research interests include management and organizational behavior, innovation and entrepreneurship. She has published in the Academy of Management Journal, Organization ScienceJournal of Operations Management and Human Relations.
