The Paul Merage School of Business of the University of California, Irvine (Merage School) has announced a new option for those who continue to work while acquiring their MBA.

FEMBA Flex, a part-time program, will combine online and on-campus learning, and it will be offered in addition to the current FEMBA which takes place solely on the Merage School campus.

Gerardo Okhuysen, professor and associate dean of masters programs at Merage noted, “[The addition of FMBA Flex]…will give FEMBA students the flexibility to customize their MBA paths and to broaden their career exploration.”

The on-campus experience will include intensive faculty and peer interaction, project presentation and discussion, and new FEMBA electives. FEMBA Flex students will have access to the latest collaborative learning platforms such as YellowDig, Zaption, and Canvas.

Admitted students will be able to choose between the FEMBA and FEMBA Flex upon admission.

Students enrolled in FEMBA Flex will be able to access online lectures that fit in with their schedule. Designed for early to mid-career managers and professionals, the curriculum will meet the needs of those seeking to pivot or redirect their careers, in addition to entrepreneurs.

Merage School Dean Eric Spangenberg said:

“FEMBA Flex is a prime example of our intentional effort to provide innovative programs and delivery methods that effectively educate globally competitive business leaders… [It] reflects our focus on redefining business education and increasing the accessibility of our programs to students regionally, nationally and internationally.”

FEMBA Flex instructional team will be led by Assistant Dean and Merage CIO John Clarke. The curriculum consists of 21 courses and offers more than 50 specialized electives in a variety of disciplines.
