New Jindal Healthcare Leadership and Management Center Debuts

Jindal Healthcare Leadership

The newly formed Center for Healthcare Leadership and Management debuted April 20th, uniting the health care management programs at the University of Texas at Dallas – Naveen Jindal School of Management.

The new Center is a banding together of Jindal’s many health care programs, including: the MS in Healthcare Leadership and Management, Executive MS/MBA in Healthcare Management (for physicians), Executive MS in Healthcare Leadership and Management (for health care professionals), Certificate in Healthcare Leadership and Management, Certificate in Healthcare Leadership and Management for Physicians and Essential Elements of Accountable Care Organizations program.

“The center is intended to bring all of faculty together, reach out to many of you that are in industry, and invite you to speak and lecture and be part of this great effort, said center director Dr. Britt Berrett to an audience of students, faculty, and health care professionals.

According to Dr. Forney Fleming, director of the M.S. in Healthcare Leadership and Management program, earning a master’s degree is no longer optional for entering the health care field. UT Dallas makes the process as simple as possible, offering evening classes and online options so students can continue a full-time career while earning their degree. And with a field that changes so constantly, creating well-educated and flexible leaders is more important ever. “Like Professor Fleming says, they’re training us for jobs that don’t really exist … yet,” said a student in Fleming’s American Healthcare System course.

With the uniting of the many programs into one cohesive Center for Healthcare Leadership and Management, UT Dallas can help provide students with a solid foundation and community for exploring the many aspects of the healthcare field.

“This area has a perfect climate to bring engaged health care-minded individuals to the issues and find solutions,” Dr. Berrett commented on the Dallas metro. “From the long waits in the lobby to how many bills you see, we have a terrific chance to improve efficiency.”
