Texas A&M Commerce Receives ISACA Scholarship

The Texas A&M University – Commerce College of Business‘ Marketing and Business Analytics Department has recently received a scholarship of $2000 from the North Texas Chapter of the ISACA.

ISACA is a nonprofit global membership organization which aims to “[help] business and IT leaders maximize value and manage risk related to information and technology.” The organization, which was founded in 1969, today has more than 200 chapters worldwide, with roughly 110,000 constituents in 180 countries. The North Texas Chapter of ISACA has been operating in the Dallas-Forth Worth metro since 1975, claiming business giants like J.C. Penny, General Motor Financial and Capital One as members.

The scholarship from ISACA is highly selective and reserved only for universities which demonstrate an impressive record of IT research and education. This is the fourth time Commerce has been awarded with the prestigious scholarship, signifying the high quality of the Department of Marketing and Business Analytics at Commerce and its excellence within the industry.

The Department of Marketing and Business Analytics offers programs both at the undergraduate and graduate level that will help students to understand the marketplace, using data to better grasp the needs and wants of buyers. By looking at big data, business analytics students will be able to identify solutions they can bring outside the classroom and use to address real-world business challenges.

“We are very grateful to ISACA,” said Dr. Chris Myers, head of the Marketing and Business analytics department.  “The scholarship is recognition of our business analytics research which involves information systems and education excellence within our department. It is also motivation for us to keep improving the quality of our programs. ISACA is very supportive of our new BBA and MS in Business Analytics.”
