Cranfield School Appoints Professor Lynette Ryals as Interim Director

Cranfield Professor Lynette Ryals

Beginning August 1, Professor Lynette Ryals will take over as the Interim Director at the Cranfield School of Management. It is the first time in the school’s 50-year history that the position has been taken up by a woman. She is succeeding Professor Maury Peiperl, who is leaving the school to take over as Dean of the School of Business at George Mason University near Washington DC.

Professor Ryals revealed her new appointment in a press release, stating, “This is an exciting time for Cranfield School of Management, as we celebrate our 50th year. I’m looking forward to helping our world-renowned faculty prepare for the new academic year. The school is rightly very proud of its heritage, and the recent announcement by The Economist of our MSc in Management as the best in the UK demonstrates our continued commitment to excellence.”

Ryals has spent many years at the Cranfield School of Management as a Professor of Strategic Sales and Account Management. She’s also a member of the school’s Executive Board and was appointed as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) for Cranfield University in 2014.

Her experience includes prize-winning research, which has been published in such prestigious publications as the Harvard Business Review and the Journal of Marketing. She is also a Fellow in a variety of institutions including:

  • The Higher Education Academy
  • The Society of Investment Professionals.
  • The Chartered Institute of Logistics.
  • The Hanken School of Economics in Finland.

And even though Ryals is taking up the position of Interim Director, that does not mean she will leave any of her current roles. She will continue to serve as Pro-Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Sir Peter Gregson, the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Cranfield University said, “I am delighted that Lynette is taking up this position, she has made an outstanding contribution to the wider university, and I’m sure her many years of experience with the school will be invaluable during this period.”
