gupta hall of fame

Heather Kreager, an alumna of the Satish and Yasmin Gupta College of Business at the University of Dallas, was recently awarded the 2015 Beta Gamma Sigma Business Achievement Award. Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society for AACSB-accredited business programs, honors one to three outstanding business people with this award each year. Winners must exemplify the highest integrity consistent with Beta Gamma Sigma’s ideals, provide continuing service to humanity beyond acts of generosity, and present a model of ethical business leadership.

Kreager received a B.A. in English from Vanderbuilt University, a J.D. from Southern Methodist University, and an MBA from the University of Dallas. She serves as the CEO of Sammons Enterprises Inc., a company where she has worked for more than 30 years. During her tenure, she orchestrated the transition of the company to a complete employee stock ownership plan and brought cohesion to Sammons’ varied holdings.

Kreager encourages community involvement at Sammons. The company encourages employees to volunteer for local charities, and the Sammons employee stock ownership plan has donated over $125 million to six Dallas and Fort Worth area charities. Kreager herself has donated to the Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business and she plays a significant role in Briggs Equipment’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light the Night Event.

The dean of the Satish and Yasmin Gupta College of Business, Robert Scherer, congratulated Kreager on her accomplishment. “What Ms. Kreager has accomplished at Sammons is the epitome of excellence in both business and leadership. We’re extremely proud of her achievements; the culture she has helped create at Sammons directly reflects our mission of developing principled and moral leaders. This award also recognizes Ms. Kreager’s embodiment of Beta Gamma Sigma’s principles and values: earnestness, honor, integrity, service, and the pursuit of wisdom. Ms. Kreager is an outstanding example to the global business community as well as to our current and future students of management.”
