Enrollment at UTA College of Business Reaches Five-Year High

UTA

The University of Texas at Arlington – College of Business recently reached a major milestone: a five-year high for spring enrollment this semester at the business school.

Between the spring of 2016 and the most recent semester, enrollment jumped from 5,224 to 5,822 students—a 10.3 percent increase. An 8.6 percent increase was also noted between the fall of 2015 and the previous fall semester. The data was calculated by UTA’s Analytics Department.

According to the College of Business Interim Dean Chandra Subramaniam, the growing reputation of UTA over recent years is responsible for the growth. “The university’s numbers are also increasing. I think the general excellence of UTA through achieving the Carnegie tier one designation and other accolades that they have also helps bring groups of students into the College of Business.”

Such accolades include recognition as one of the top 294 best business schools by The Princeton Review and a top business school for veterans according to Military Times.

According to Shelly Parker, undergraduate advising director for the College of Business, the increased enrollment and interest in the school is a result of the program’s high quality. “Understanding the importance of accounting, economics and finance is just as important as understanding the impact of management, marketing and information systems,” she said. “All these aspects of business make for a well-rounded graduate regardless of the industry he or she enters.”

Another huge draw for the program centers around its price tag—for a low cost, students can get the same quality business education than at schools with a much higher tuition.

“Our students are not just the future of UT Arlington or the College of Business,” said Parker. “They are the future, period.”
