Haas Holds Part-Time MBA Admissions Events

The Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley will be offering several upcoming admissions events for its part-time MBA program. These events include information sessions at different locations around the bay area as well as different cities across the country, class visitations, online information sessions and special diversity events.

The Evening and Weekend MBA Program at Haas makes the academic experience convenient and accessible for busy working professionals. The three-year, part-time schedule makes it possible to work while pursuing an education. Students will study at the UC Berkeley campus. Weekend students will also study at a location in nearby Silicon Valley on select Saturdays.

Stern Announces New Dean of Corp. Relations

Roxanne Hori has joined the NYU Stern School of Business in the newly created position of Associate Dean of Corporate Relations, Career Services and Leadership Development. In this role, she will build, sustain and manage a broad array of corporate relationships that underpin the career development program for MBA students and alumni, as well as forge new relationships with companies across sectors and markets around the world.

Hori comes to Stern with 35 years of experience in industry and higher education. She served at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University for many years, holding the positions of Assistant Dean, Director of Career Management and most recently, Associate Dean of Corporate Partnerships.

Argyros Student Offers Advice for Classmates

Chapman University’s Argyros School of Business student Jonathan David Chandler offers advice to fellow students after completing his first year of business school. Chandler offers this advice as an MBA student who does not have a business background. Chandler writes:

“With a bachelors degree in communications, I have limited experience with business. My first semester at Chapman, I enrolled in accounting and economics, both being firsts for me. I was nervous on my first day in each of those classes. I thought to myself, how will I do? Will these classes be hard? Can I pass while working full time?”

Chapman explains that these questions are only a few of many he had before starting his first day of classes. Learning how to balance his professional life with his student life was a challenge but Chapman was able to succeed.

Smith Encourages Women in Business with New Scholarships and Partnerships

New scholarships, alliances, program innovations and opportunities are now available for women at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Some of these new scholarships will come from Smith’s participation in the Forté Fellows Program, an international campaign organized to increase the number of women in top MBA programs. Smith and five other schools officially joined the Forté community on July 1, bringing the total in the network to 48 member schools in the United States, Canada and Europe.   Continue reading…

BU Continues Centennial Celebration

Boston University’s School of Management is continuing to celebrate its centennial over the rest of the 2014 school year. Over the 2013-2014 school year, several events were held in celebration of the school’s anniversary. This coming fall, the events will continue.

The School of Management has had a lot of firsts to brag about over the last 100 years. The history of the school includes being one of the first to admit women, being one of the first to institute specific curricula addressing nonprofit and healthcare management, and creating the first MS·MBA, a high-tech dual degree that merges technology with today’s business needs.
