Dallas MBA Programs that Do Not Require Work Experience

places to intern in Dallas

For busy professionals, the process of applying for and succeeding in an MBA program can be a challenging one. Considering the time one must devote to their application and schooling, it is understandable why the number of students entering MBA programs directly after graduation is on the rise. By applying to an MBA program that does not require professional work experience, students gain the benefit of focusing on their education without having to put a successful career on hold.

If you are pursuing graduate business school in the Dallas metro, there are a number of Dallas MBA programs that do not require work experience as part of the application process.

Dallas MBA Programs that Do Not Require Work Experience

Commerce College of Business – Texas A&M

The Full-Time MBA at Commerce College of Business does not require professional work experience in order to be considered for enrollment. The school also does not require GMAT/GRE scores, which can be substituted with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher and/or a graduate degree in an approved area of study from an accredited institution.

In addition to the requirement above, applicants must submit just one letter of recommendation and all official transcripts. Additional requirements exist for international students, such as a sponsor statement and proof of English proficiency.

MBAs interested in applying for the Hankamer School of Business can do so with no prior work experience necessary. To apply, the program requires three personal essays, two professional recommendations, an undergraduate transcript, and resume.

Although the resume may of course include prior work experience, there is no minimum amount of professional experience required for the Hankamer Full-Time MBA Program or for the Online MBA Program. According to the Hankamer website, the resume can include any “activities, honors, or awards that you believe helpful to ensuring success in the MBA program.”

Naveen Jindal School of Management – University of Texas at Dallas

Applicants to the Full-Time MBA program and the Professional MBA at the Naveen Jindal School of Management are not required to have professional work experience before pursuing their MBA. Although there are some differences in requirement between the two programs, both require a transcript, GMAT/GRE scores no more than five years old, 1-2 essays and a letter of recommendation. Although students will be asked to submit prior work experience as part of the application, there is no minimum years of experience needed to apply.

metromba_neeley_tcuNeeley School of Business – Texas Christian University

It is common for students entering MBA programs at the Neeley School to have professional experience, with incoming students in the Full-Time MBA program possessing an average of 4 years experience, and 6.2 years of experience for the Professional MBA. Nevertheless, work experience is not a requirement for admission. To be considered for the Accelerated Professional MBA or the  MBA for Energy Professionals, 3 years of work or military experience are required, though part-time students do not need to meet this requirement.

As with most institutions, factors such as undergraduate performance, GMAT/GRE scores, professional recommendations and personal essays are required components of the admissions process. After a preliminary application review, some students may also be invited for an in-person interview.

University of North Texas College of Business

Interested applicants to both the MBA Programs and Accelerated Online MBA in Strategic Management at the University of North Texas will be required to submit GRE/GMAT scores, two letters of recommendation, an undergraduate transcript, personal essay and current resume. Although the resume should detail both educational and work experience, the program does not require any set number of years of professional experience, making a direct transition from undergraduate to MBA possible.
