University of North Texas MBA Program Structure

The University of North Texas G. Brint Ryan College of Business MBA program offers students 14 different MBA specialization options.

Students can earn their MBA degree in such areas as finance, health services management, marketing, organizational behavior, strategic management or business studies. Students completing the MBA in business studies also have the opportunity to complete a concentration in international business, library science and technology, real estate or sustainability.

Students in the University of North Texas MBA program have the option of taking courses on a full-time or part-time basis. UNT recommends that students who work full-time in addition to completing the program should not schedule more than six semester hours (two courses) in a long semester or three semester hours (one course) in a summer session. All students must complete 36 credit hours of coursework to complete the program.

Core courses for the MBA program are also offered online on a varying semester schedule. The courses for the MBA in Finance, MBA in Organizational Behavior, MBA in Marketing, MBA in Marketing Analytics, MBA in Supply Chain Analytics, MBA in Supply Chain Management, and the MBA in Strategic Management are offered to students 100 percent online.

Curriculum

All University of North Texas MBA students must complete 36 credit hours of coursework for the program, despite which program, concentration or format they choose to complete. Some students may be required to complete up to 18 more credits of background courses. The necessity of background courses is assessed with review of undergraduate transcripts.

Students complete 18 credits of core courses and 18 credits of concentration specific courses to complete the 36 credits needed to complete the MBA degree at UNT. As part of the concentration specific courses, students select one elective course to take that will complement their career path. MBA core courses provide a solid knowledge base for students. Core course cover accounting, finance management, marketing management, the business decision process, organizational behavior analysis and administrative strategy.

Careers

The University of North Texas MBA program curriculum provides students with solid business management skills and industry-specific knowledge needed to effectively lead. The curriculum emphasizes skills and values essential to successful leadership such as ethics, communication, teamwork, global perspectives, use of technology, problem recognition and problem solving. Depending on the concentration that a student completes along with the MBA core courses, students will be prepared to lead and be effective managers in a variety of job sectors and industries.

Students have the option of participating in the Professional Leadership Program at UNT. The program works to prepare students for leadership in management through networking events, skill building workshops and job fairs.

UNT also offers the Career Center at the Business Leadership Building. Students receive one-on-one advising, career planning and career exploration help from graduate advisors. They also have access to career workshops and fairs facilitated by the office. The career services advisors also help students with résumé and cover letter writing as well as mock interviews.

Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid

The cost to attend the full-time MBA program at the University of North Texas varies by payment plan. The estimated cost per credit for graduate students is $302.79. More information can be found here and students may estimate their cost here.

Students at UNT are qualified for federal student aid. Students seeking federal student aid must complete the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for funding. The Toulouse Graduate School offers students a limited amount of fellowships and scholarships. These awards range from $500 a semester to $33,000 a year, including health benefits.

The University also accepts federal and state grants, scholarships, private loans, employee sponsorship and veterans’ benefits to help cover the cost of tuition. Professional and graduate students are no longer eligible to receive federal subsidized loans. Admissions

Before applying to the University of North Texas MBA program, prospective students must first apply and be accepted to the UNT Toulouse Graduate School. Applicants can submit their application at applytexas.org.

Applicants must also pay the $75 application fee, send official copies of transcripts from all degree granting institutions and provide GMAT scores to the Toulouse Graduate School. GMAT scores are required and are a major component in the admission decision. In addition to the GMAT, applicants are also required to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 from their undergraduate degree in order to be accepted to a master’s program. There is not a minimum work experience requirement for applicants but on average students have five years of professional experience.

After acceptance into the Toulouse Graduate School at the University of North Texas, students can then apply to the College of Business. To complete the application process for the College of Business, students must submit a 600 to 700-word essay that outlines unique events, life experiences, and qualifications that distinguish them as an MBA candidate and that will add to the value of the class.

Students must also submit a copy of their professional resume as well as three letters of recommendation. Students applying for the online programs must also complete an online request form. Applicants looking to complete courses online and on campus should not complete the online request form.
