Graziadio Student Shares MBA Experience
Jordann Schoonover is a Full-Time MBA student at the Graziadio School of Business and Management. She first came to Pepperdine University for her undergraduate degree. She decided to return to Pepperdine for her MBA because of her positive experience with the professors. “Teachers truly care about us and they’re here because they love what they do, which is teaching us, and helping us become a part of the real world,” she said.
In her experience at Graziadio, Schoonover fond that the professors for the MBA program shared the same passion for teaching and for their students. “Every teacher is here to make a socially responsible individual who is not going out into the world just simple to make the bottom line bigger but to create individuals that are going to better the world for future generation,” Schooner said.
Executive Education at Cambridge Judge Designs HSBC Leadership Programme in Dubai
HSBC Bank in the Middle East has completed its inaugural HSBC Leadership Programme for mid-level Emirati managers, which was developed in association with the Executive Education division of Cambridge Judge Business School.
Abdulfattah Sharaf, Chief Executive Officer at HSBC UAE, said that the programme was designed to foster the growth of United Arab Emirates nationals to lead organisations across the country in the future.

SFSU Holds CIO Exec Development Program
The San Francisco State College of Business will be offering The CIO Executive Development Program this May. The CIO Executive Development Program helps professionals in the information technology sector to develop the necessary skills to be successful in their jobs and advance their career opportunities. The program features business-focused content that will complement participants’ technical skills, such as strategy and business alignment, planning and management, budgeting and tracking, leadership and communication planning, governance and IT innovation.
Davood Ghods, Chief, Office of Technology Services, California Department of Technology will serve as the program’s keynote speaker. The program was created for CIOs, IT executives and personnel identified as leaders who seek a professional education program to increase their competencies and continue lifelong professional learning.
Leavey Ranked No. 4 for ROI
The Leavey School of Business has been ranked no. 4 in the country for return on a student’s college investment by PayScale. PayScale’s College ROI rankings are based on a “20 Year Return on Investment,” measured as the additional salary over 20 years that a graduating student would earn above that of a high-school graduate, after subtracting the cost of the education. Santa Clara business majors reported a median 20-year ROI of $756,200, which is the fourth-best in the nation.
A degree from Santa Clara University was ranked in the top 5 percent in the survey for return on investment. The school was ranked no. 51 out of 1223 colleges or universities that were ranked by PayScale. Among the 407 private, nonprofit institutions on the list, Santa Clara’s ROI ranked no. 27, which is in the top 7 percent of the rankings. Among 81 California schools, SCU was ranked at no. 9, which is part of the top 12 percent.
Carey Business School’s Toby Gordon With Excellence in Teaching Award
Thanks to her above-and-beyond work at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, Associate Professor Toby Gordon has been given the Excellence in Teaching Award from students in the 2013-2015 cohort of the MBA/Master of Public Health dual-degree program, according to a press release on the school’s website. Another 40 Under 40 Best Professor Award Winner at Jones
Poets and Quants, the website responsible for a lot of the business school rankings you see, recently released its list of the World’s Best 40 under 40 Business School Professors. This year, Rice University Jones Graduate School of Business’s Yael Hochberg is one of the winners. Rutgers Alumnus Featured Speaker for CFO Lecture Series
Rutgers Business School MBA alumnus Olena Paslawsky, will return to the school as the featured speaker for the school’s CFO Lecture Series. The CFO Lecture Series will be held April 23. Paslawsky will speak about her career and specifically her transition to the non-profit world from corporate finance. Paslawsky’s talk is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in Bove Auditorium on the Rutgers campus.
The CFO Lecture Series is one of the school’s most distinguished events, highlighting the success of its alumni as well as the strength of its connections to corporations in Newark and the region. Other MBA alums who have participated in the series include Sheri McCoy, chief executive of Avon and Michael O’Neill, chief executive of Broadcast Music Inc.
Rutgers-Camden Establishes Leadership Institute
Rutgers University–Camden has established the Leadership Institute, which will connect students to programs, events and other opportunities to enhance their college experience. The Leadership Institute will help students identify their talents, passions and career opportunities through mentoring and advising. The Institute will work in partnership with Rutgers–Camden’s Career Center, the Rutgers University Alumni Association, Civic Scholars program, the Business Leadership Development Program and other initiatives to provide academic and career mentoring for students.
Students participate in the institute for their first two years at Rutgers. Leadership training programs will still be available for students in their junior and senior years. First-year students accepted to the Leadership Institute will receive a scholarship, renewable upon the completion of four Leadership Institute approved activities per semester.
Booth Set to Launch New Poverty Lab
Marianne Bertrand, Chris P. Dialynas Distinguished Service Professor of Economics at Booth School of Business, will direct the new University of Chicago Poverty Lab. According to a press release on the The University of Chicago’s website, The Poverty Lab is one of three new urban labs the University of Chicago announced. This lab joins the Ecology and Wellness Labs as part of a University of Chicago network that builds on the success of the school’s Crime and Education Labs.
The Poverty Lab’s mission will be to seek ways to improve parenting skills and better prepare students for the job market. In each lab, staff members and students conduct research, formulate strategies for tackling problems, work with community groups to operate programs, then evaluate data to assess impact. Davis Ranked for Best Quality of Education
Graduateprograms.com has ranked the UC Davis Graduate School of Management no. 21 in the top 25 business schools that offer the best quality of education. For the data, GraduatePrograms.com surveyed over 10,000 current and former business school students about their programs to find which places offer the best quality of education.
The best quality of education was based on the schools where students have access to relevant, interesting, and challenging courses taught by qualified professors. Students ranked their schools on a scale from 1 to 10. The scores for each school were averaged together to come up with the final ranking score.
HBS Launches New Recruiting Program for Women
The Harvard Business School will launch a new recruiting program, called PEEK that will address the underrepresentation of women in its student body. Of the 1,859 MBA students currently enrolled in the Business School, 41 percent are female. The new recruiting program will target women’s colleges to help increase the female study body.
The program will host about 70 to 80 rising juniors, seniors and recent graduates during a weekend in June and will expose them to the Business School and familiarize them with the MBA program at Harvard. The PEEK program will diverge from a more traditional visit. Program participants will partake in assigned case studies, live on campus and meet with faculty, current students and alumni.

Hubbard tells readers that instead of looking at the number of successful alumni or how the dean perceives the school, it is important for prospective students to look at the students that are enrolled in the school and how many applications that the school receives every year and if applications are going up or down over the past few years.
