Simmons Alum Shares Experience
Simmons School of Management Alumnus Amanda Wagner shared her story of why she chose to attend Simmons and how it has helped to further her career. Wagner’s story was published in the Simmons School of Management blog.
Wagner serves as the Senior Director of Product Planning & Program Management at Concert Pharmaceuticals and was selected out of 350 Boston professionals that were nominated for the honor of 40 under 40 due to her professional accomplishments and civil engagement.

Rutgers Ranked by LinkedIn and Washington Monthly
Rutgers Business School, Newark and New Brunswick, has been ranked by both Washington Monthly and LinkedIn. Rutgers landed among the best schools for students interested in pursuing careers in marketing and finance, according LinkedIn and one of “America’s Best-Bang-for-the-Buck Colleges” by Washington Monthly.
LinkedIn ranked Rutgers no. 16 among the best schools in the U.S. for marketing and no. 22 among the best schools for students with ambitions of going into careers in finance. These rankings put Rutgers ahead of Penn State, Columbia University, Duke University, University of Michigan, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Emory University.
UDel Holds Startup Competition
The University of Delaware’s Horn Program in Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurship Club (E-Club) will host their fall elevator pitch competition on Friday, Nov. 7. “Pitch Your Path” is a fast-paced competition designed to highlight the best entrepreneurial ideas that UD students have to offer.
This edition of the bi-annual series asks students to think about their careers and to recognize the importance of being entrepreneurial to their career success.
Stanford Launches Free Public Online Course
Stanford Graduate School of Business has launched a free, self-paced online course open to anyone called “Stocks and Bonds: Risks and Returns”. The course focuses on the finance fundamentals behind stocks and bonds, as well as how to make smart decisions as an investor. Finance Professor Joshua Rauh will lead the class.
The content covered by Rauh during the course will include an overview of the bond market, with special attention to corporate and municipal bonds; interest rates and their impact on the valuation of treasury bonds; the fundamentals of the stock market; and an analysis of how to make smart decisions as an investor.
Haas Awards Record Number of Scholarships
The Haas School of Business has awarded scholarships to a school record of half of the entering Full-time MBA class. This class is a diverse group including a West Point-educated Special Forces battalion operations officer and a former General Electric executive who founded a solar company in Mexico. Overall, Berkeley-Haas will provide nearly $6 million to students in all three MBA programs.
Awards to Full-time MBA students range from $10,000 to $110,000 for two years of coursework, with an average award of $26,000 for entering students. This fall, 41 percent of scholarship recipients in the incoming Full-time MBA class of 2016 are women, a figure that nearly equals the record 43 percent of women who now comprise the class of 241 new students.

Graziadio Releases Infograph on LA Metro MBA’s
The Graziadio School of Business blog has released an infographic on who in the Los Angeles metro area are attending graduate business school. The blog post cites information on several other metro areas as well as information from the Graduate Management Admission Council’s latest prospective student survey. New Director for Cranfield School of Management
Professor Maury Peiperl will take up the post of Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Director of Cranfield School of Management early next year. Professor Peiperl comes from IMD in Switzerland, a major international business school where he is Professor of Leadership and Strategic Change.
Sir Peter Gregson, Cranfield’s Chief Executive and Vice-Chancellor, announced the news by saying: “We are looking forward to welcoming Maury to the University. His unique strengths in technology and management mean he is an excellent choice to lead Cranfield’s School of Management from its world-class position in executive education to the next level.”

London Business School Survey Finds Executives Struggle to Identify Chinese Brands
Almost half of business executives struggle to identify leading Chinese brands, according to a survey of more than 1,000 business executives by London Business School’s China Business Forum. The survey found that 45% were unable to correctly identify what Hisense, a leading consumer electronics brand, produces.
Nirmalya Kumar, visiting Professor of Marketing and author of Brand Breakout: How Emerging Market Brands Will Go Global, said: “While western consumers are surrounded by products made in China, Chinese brands are invisible. China hopes Haler and Lenovo are leading the transformation to global brands from China just as Toyota and Sony did for Japan or Samsung and Hyundai did for South Korea.”

Simmons Student Shares Experience With Part-Time-to-Full-Time Program
Simmons School of Management student Noelle San Jose shares her story on how she made the decision between the full-time and part-time MBA program by choosing both. San Jose writes in the Simmons student blog:
“At the School of Management, prospective students are given the opportunity to transition from part-time to full time as a means of accelerating their degree. I am one of those students who started in the spring when this track is available. All spring-start students start with a part-time load, but have the option to accelerate in the fall by indicating this preference in the application.
Cass Business School Alumni Flock to Monaco for Networking Weekend
The fourth annual alumni gathering in Monaco drew 200 Cass Business School alumni for a weekend of reunions and networking.
Alumni and guests came together from all across Europe and as far as Ghana, South Africa, Kazakhstan and Dubai. They were welcomed with a drinks reception hosted by EasyJet founder and Cass alumnus, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, on the terrace of his Stelios Philanthropic Foundation.
Sir Stelios, who studied on Cass’s Shipping, Trade and Finance MSc, was delighted to host the event and hoped it would inspire others to give back to the Business School.

Villanova Gives Highest Alumni Award
The Villanova School of Business has named Richard J. Naclerio ’54 as the 2014 recipient of The Rev. Joseph C. Bartley, OSA Alumni Medallion. The Bartley Medallion is given annually to recognize alumni who have distinguished themselves in their careers while also demonstrating extraordinary service to their communities and to VSB. This is the highest distinction the school can bestow to an alumnus.
Throughout his career, Naclerio has proven to be successful as a developer, investor and entrepreneur. He served as CEO and president of Naclerio Contracting Corporation, which served the Greater New York region and provided infrastructure for municipalities.
RBS Ranked No. 1 in MBA Employment

Zarb Ranked by Payscale.com
Payscale.com College Salary Report has ranked the Frank G. Zarb School of Business among the top 10 schools in the nation for undergraduate business majors. The ranking is based on the mid-career salary of the school’s graduates.
Hofstra University ranks no. 10 on Payscale.com’s Best Schools by Salary Potential for Business Majors, ahead of Cornell, New York, George Washington, Syracuse, Pace and Rutgers universities. It is the only university in New York state to make the top 10.
Argyros Student Gives Advice
After Natalie Matar transferred to Chapman University, she decided to add a second major to her business administration degree through the Argyros School of Business. This decision brought her into the Argyros School’s Career Services office for assistance.
During her first appointment, Natalie learned about the Accounting Recruiting Program and went full-speed ahead into fall recruitment by interviewing for several summer 2014 internship opportunities. Natalie was offered a full-time, four month internship, working for the nation’s largest professional services and public accounting firm Deloitte in Costa Mesa, California for winter 2014.
