Zicklin GEM U.S. Report Issued
The happiness levels of American women entrepreneurs are surging as they assume the role of successful business owner, according to the 2013 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) U.S. Report issued by Babson College and Baruch College. Established female business owners ranked their well-being more than twice as high as non-entrepreneurs and non-business owners.
The GEM U.S. Report is authored by Babson professors Donna J. Kelley, PhD, Abdul Ali, PhD, Candida Brush, PH.D, Andrew C. Corbett, PhD, and Mahdi Majbouri, PhD, with Thomas Lyons, PhD, and Edward G. Rogoff PhD, contributing from Baruch College.
Flex MBA
The Ramapo Flex MBA Structure
The Ramapo Flex MBA program at the Anisfield School of Business offers leadership-oriented learning experiences designed to accommodate undergraduate business majors and non-business majors. Each offering hosts evening classes on campus in Mahwah, New Jersey, and/or online. Classes meet weekly during the evenings, typically on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Class modality varies but a majority of the courses are hybrid, i.e., the content is delivered in-class and online. Foundational courses are taught online.
Business Majors: Save time and money completing the MBA as a “4+1” program, taking just 10 courses (30 credits); 12 credits of foundational business courses are waived.
Non-Business Majors: Complete 12 credits of foundational business courses, then just 30 credits more to complete the degree.
Working Professionals: Work full-time while you complete your degree; classes are offered at night and/or online for better work-life balance.
4+1 students complete 30 credits in as little as 12 months; working professional with an undergraduate business degree can complete the program in as little as 20 months, while a working professional with a nonbusiness degree can complete the program in approximately 28 months.

The Ramapo Accelerated MBA is targeted to early career professionals with at least two years of relevant work experience.
Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid
The per-credit tuition cost for The Anisfield Flex MBA is $1,063 for students beginning in September. The total cost for 4+1 students is approximately $32,000 and 45,000 for non-business majors, both figures include tuition and fees. Students selecting the Global Immersion elective are billed separately. Tuition is due at the start of each semester but payment plans are available for students receiving employer tuition reimbursement at the end of the semester. There is no additional cost for out-of-state students.
A limited number of scholarships are available to MBA students based on their professional and academic merit and/or financial need. Applicants who apply before the deadline as determined by the Graduate Admissions Office will be considered.
Admissions
The Admissions Committee evaluates each applicant holistically and evaluates all aspects of an applicant’s skills including employment experience, internships, levels of responsibility, and maturity.
The following is required for admissions to the Anisfield Flex MBA:
- Non-refundable $60 application fee.
- Resume
- Personal Statement – An essay describing why you are interested in enrolling as a Graduate student at Ramapo College, how it fits into personal intellectual development, and what you expect to accomplish by enrolling. The essay should also include a statement describing why you wish to pursue an MBA at Ramapo College, including your short and long term aspirations.
- Two letters of reference – from two individuals who can appraise your academic performance, pertinent work experience, and/or ability to pursue a graduate degree.
- Official transcripts
- Interview
GMAT/GRE scores are required on a case-by-case basis and are unnecessary for applicants with a minimum 3.0 GPA and two years of work experience as well as applicants who already have a graduate degree. In addition, the school suggests applicants have at least two years of professional work experience before applying, but it is not strictly necessary for certain applicants. An interview may be required on a case-by-case basis.
Applications are reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis.
Marshall Offers MS in Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The USC Marshall School of Business is offering a new Master of Science in Entrepreneurship and Innovation through its Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. The degree will expand opportunities for students interested in careers in entrepreneurship, corporate venturing and innovation or technology commercialization.
The MSEI is an accelerated and highly experiential program preparing students with the knowledge and skills to create new business ventures in a climate defined by rapid change, increasing competition, shortened product lifecycles and higher market volatility.
Students can complete the program over three terms, beginning coursework in a short session prior to the fall semester and graduating the following May.
Lerner Alumni Honored With Awards
The University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics honored distinguished alumni Vance A. Funk III, Ping Xu and Arlene Hogan at the 2014 Alumni Awards of Excellence ceremony and reception held on Friday, June 6, in the Lerner Hall Atrium.
During the ceremony, winners discussed the varied challenges and successes of their careers, and how their experiences at UD helped them to realize their goals.
Smith Named Member of Forte Foundation
The Robert H. Smith School of Business was one of only six institutions named as 2014 sponsor of the Forté Foundation, a consortium of major corporations, business schools and non-profit organizations that champions women for leadership roles in business. The Department of Supply Chain Management and Marketing Services and Career Services at Rutgers Business School Newark and New Brunswick will be cosponsoring the Fall 2014 Rutgers Supply Chain Management Meet and Greet on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Livingston Campus: Recreation Center.
The event is for students and alumni who are looking for internships or jobs with the companies attending. Companies can use the meet and greet to find students and alumni who can help fill open positions or internships in the supply chain management field.

SanFran State Alumnus Appointed Assist. Dean of Business Admin at San Diego State
San Francisco State University College of Business Alumnus Tita Gray has been appointed as the assistant dean of the College of Business Administration at San Diego State University.
Gray is a former executive in Diversity and Inclusion with the Pacific Gas & Electric Company in San Francisco. She has served as an adjunct professor at San Diego State University in the College of Business Administration, since 2012, where she teaches Organizational Behavior and Leadership.
Babson Hosts Program for Former NFL Players
The Trust, a program designed to aid former NFL players, powered by the NFL Players Association, has partnered with Babson College to create a “Basic Training – It’s My Business” program to assist former NFL players with deciding if owning, partnering or investing in a business is a sound career move.
The Trust is a set of resources, programs and services designed to provide former players with the support, skills and tools to help ensure success after football. San Fran State Students Inducted to Beta Gamma Sigma
San Francisco State University’s College of Business honored 54 top students at the annual Beta Gamma Sigma, Mu Chapter, induction ceremony held May 23, 2014.
During the ceremony, 13 MBA students and two Executive MBA students were sworn in to the Beta Gamma Sigma, Mu chapter, and presented with the Beta Gamma Sigma honor cord and membership certificate by Dean Linda Oubré, Associate Dean Kathleen O’Donnell and other department faculty members.

CaseWare Analytics Donates Technology and Services to Rutgers
CaseWare Analytics announced today that it has donated $250,000 of technology and services to The Rutgers Accounting Research Center. The contribution will support the efforts of the Rutgers Continuous Auditing and Reporting Lab (CAR) to advance audit practices through the use of technology.
