NYU Stern “Launches” Into First Year Orientation

On Monday, the NYU Stern School of Business began its nine day first-year student orientation program, Launch. The program is divided into four parts: World, Business, City, and U. Starting with the big picture, the World phase of the program is all about rethinking the individual’s global impact and hearing from and about those who are using business to enact large-scale change. The section on Business discusses the ways in which technology and innovation have been utilized to improve the business world, while the City section focuses on the role of urbanization in the current business environment.

The most intensive section of the program, taking up six days, is “U,” which introduces the new class of MBA students to the vast resources of NYU Stern with the goal of inspiring these students to make the very most of their Stern education. The program for “U” includes activities like a mentor session, an MBA Club Expo, and a Mets baseball game, among many others.

This year’s speakers include a variety of deans and professors along with professionals from companies like American Express and FusionIQ.

Last year, a first-year Stern student blogger  reported the highlights and lowlights of Launch 2012 on her blog. She provided commentary on everything from hearing the President of NYU speak to the difficulty of sitting in Paulson Auditorium for over a week straight. Apparently her FOMO was at an all time high!
