Eurasia Group’s Ian Bremmer Named Global Research Professor at Stern
Ian Bremmer, the president of Eurasia Group, has been named a Global Research Professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business. Bremmer is an expert in political risk and foreign policy. As a Global Research Professor, Bremmer will teach at Stern, and organize lectures, seminars, and other public events at the business school and the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies’ Center for Global Affairs.
The dean of the Stern School of Business, Peter Henry, explained that Bremmer would be able to help students develop the political knowledge they would need for a future in international business. In a statement, Dean Henry observed: “Ian Bremmer and the Eurasia Group set the standard of excellence for political risk analysis in business. In coming to teach at Stern, Ian brings significant experience to our classroom on the interplay between political risk, economic policy, and growth, and helps us in our mission to prepare students for effective global engagement”.
Fifteen years ago, Bremmer founded the Eurasia Group with $25,000. Now, the company has a network of resources around the world, with offices in London, Washington, D.C., and New York City. The Eurasia Group helps corporations, government officials, financial service organizations, and other clients understand how markets are moved by political developments.
Bremmer has an impressive resume. He was the youngest-ever national fellow at the Hoover Institution. He held faculty positions at the World Policy Institute and the EastWest Institute, and he has previously taught courses at Columbia University. He writes a blog called “The Call” on ForeignPolicy.com, and he contributes pieces to Reuters.com and the Financial Times “A-List”. While at Stern, Bremmer intends to encourage students to examine the intersection between the marketplace and political science.
