Columbia’s New York Alumni Group Establishes Fellowship
Columbia Business School’s Alumni Club of New York (CBSACNY) has established a $10,000 current-use fellowship for second-year MBA students at the university. The award is meant to recognize outstanding students for academic performance and leadership within the community at Columbia.
Ilene Moskowitz ’80, a member of CBSACNY’s board of directors and the chair of the club’s Innovation and Strategy Committee described the club’s reasons for creating the fellowship: “By giving back to the School with this first award of its kind, the club will directly honor a superlative student and also welcome a future alum. The Club is enthusiastic about the strength of the School, the quality of students being admitted, and the vision for the future.” Moskowitz also announced that the CBSACNY would like to continue the fellowship program on an annual basis.
Ira Simkhovitch is the first recipient of the CBSACNY fellowship. He plans to graduate from the Columbia MBA program in 2014. Simkhovitch said, “I am deeply humbled and honored to be selected among so many intelligent, hardworking, and mission-driven Columbia students. This fellowship is a testament to the strength of the CBS community as a lifelong network.”
The Columbia Business School Alumni Club of New York was founded in 1975. The group serves as a networking, business, and educational resource for Columbia Business School alumni, faculty, and students in New York and the Tri-State area. The club offers industry committees, networking opportunities, educational events, and alumni benefits. The CBCACNY has approximately 1,000 members.
