Zarb Students Complete Bloomberg Essentials Designation

The Zarb School of Business‘s Department of Finance offers students the opportunity to obtain Bloomberg Essentials designation by completing a self-study program designed and provided by Bloomberg. The study takes place at Hofstra’s Martin B. Greenberg Trading Room, one of the largest academic trading rooms in the country.

For the last 10 years, students have been trained in this state-of-the-art facility, which is equipped with 34 Bloomberg Professional terminals. During the 2013-2014 academic year, a record number of 75 undergraduate and graduate students completed the Bloomberg workshops.

Upon completion of the program, the students visited Bloomberg Headquarters in New York City for a tour of the facility. Bloomberg staff also recognized the student’s 2013-2014 Bloomberg Essentials Self Study designees during a special ceremony officiated by Alexandra Huber, global head of training for both sales and analytics at Bloomberg.

“I have been organizing these ceremony visits for the last year ten years and know first-hand that visiting Bloomberg and receiving their BESS designations from Bloomberg staff is one of the most memorable highlights of their Zarb experience,” said Dr. Ahmet Karagozoglu, Academic Director of the Martin B Greenberg Trading Room and Professor of Finance.

The Bloomberg Essentials Online Training program is designed to provide users with an introduction to the Bloomberg Professional Service. Four Core videos provide users with the basic Bloomberg functionality and supplemental Market Sector videos will provide users with an introduction to the major market fundamentals.

Students who are interested in learning basics of Bloomberg may also attend. These workshops and programs will be useful and relevant only for those students who have completed an introductory course in Finance.
