NIU Professor Named Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Accounting Education
According to a news blurb on the Northern Illinois University School of Business website, the Journal of Accounting Education named NIU’s Caterpillar Professor of Accountancy Natalie Churyk to serve as the Journal’s editor-in-chief. Churyk will serve in this role for three years.
According to the publication’s website, The Journal of Accounting Education is a refereed journal dedicated to promoting and publishing research on accounting education issues and to improving the quality of accounting education worldwide. The Journal “provides a vehicle for making results of empirical studies available to educators and for exchanging ideas, instructional resources, and best practices that help improve accounting education.”
Dr. Churyk is a CPA and a member of the American Accounting Association, the AICPA, and the Illinois CPA Society. She serves on state and national committees relating to education and student initiatives, including the American Accounting Association’s Teaching Learning and Curriculum Section (Treasurer and Strategic Planning Committee Member) Midwest Region (Vice-President – Academic & Program Chair).
In addition to her latest appointment at the Journal of Accounting Education, Dr. Churyk is a co-author on three textbooks: “Accounting and Auditing Research: Tools and Strategies,” “Mastering the FASB’s Codification and eIFRS: A Case Approach,” and “Accounting & Auditing Research and Databases: Practitioner’s Desk Reference.” Additionally, she was a contributor to Wiley CPA Exam Review: Financial Accounting and Reporting.
