New STEM Track in Michigan Ross Full-Time MBA Program
Starting in the fall of 2020, Michigan Ross will offer its full-time MBA students a new STEM-designated track. The new track focuses on quantitative management and business analytics across industries and is ideal for students interested in pursuing STEM-related business careers.
“Our new STEM track will leverage the world-renowned general management curriculum at Ross to prepare students from a variety of backgrounds to be leaders in the business world of today and tomorrow,” explains Dean Scott DeRue.
Completing the Michigan STEM Track
To complete the STEM pathway, students must complete 18 credit hours within the track. Required electives span disciplines including accounting, finance, management & organizations, marketing, and technology & operations. More details will be made available in February, but currently, specific electives available include:
- Big Data Management: Tools and Techniques
- Marketing Engineering and Analytics
- FinTech: Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies, and Other Technology Innovations
Current first-year Ross MBA students will be able to choose the STEM Track later in the semester. And all incoming full-time MBA students will be able to participate moving forward.
Behind the Michigan STEM Designation
As for why Michigan Ross has embarked on a new STEM track in the full-time MBA program, it’s just the latest innovation at the school. The STEM pathway fits nicely within the school’s action-based learning curriculum. And, it’s a fairly natural progression based on the popularity of the Ross data and business analytics concentration.
As Soojin Kwon, Managing Director of full-time MBA admissions, explains, “We are constantly looking for new ways to provide our students with the educational experiences and opportunities that will enable them to thrive in their future careers.”
