Baruch Named Military Friendly School

Just ahead of Veterans Day this week, Baruch College has something extra to celebrate: Baruch has been designated a Military Friendly School by Victory Media, a platform that helps employers connect with veterans and other potential employees.

“At Baruch College we pride ourselves on supporting our military veterans and other nontraditional students as they bring their skills and life experience into our academic setting,” Art King, Baruch’s dean of students, said in a press release.

One example of the support Baruch gives for nontraditional students such as veterans can be found in its MBA offerings. The Evening MBA and Executive MBA programs at Baruch’s Zicklin School of Business serve students who want to pursue an MBA while continuing to work full time.

This year’s Military Friendly list is based on research and a survey of schools approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill funding. The survey covers topics such as military support on campus, graduation and employment outcomes and military spouse policies. This is Baruch’s first appearance on the list. In the press release, King reports that Baruch has 175 student veterans.

“We want all the men and women who have served our country to know that they are welcome at Baruch College, and that we’re committed to helping them integrate, transition and thrive,” King said.

Besides its opportunities for nontraditional students, Zicklin also stands out for its proximity to Wall Street and for its diversity. According to the press release, Baruch as a whole has more than 18,000 students hailing from 164 countries and speaking more than 129 languages.
