Here’s a rundown of international/global MBA programs in the Toronto Metro:

Rotman School of Management – University of Toronto
Consistently ranked as one of the premiere business schools in Canada, the Rotman School of Management offers a variety of MBA formats, including a full-time MBA degree, part-time morning and evening MBA programs, a one-year executive MBA program and an 18-month Global Executive MBA.

According to the school, Rotman’s Global Executive MBA is an intensive 18-month degree program that allows students to maintain their jobs in their home country. The program is structured around six two-week residential modules as well as an additional one-week module that kicks things off in downtown Toronto. The first module is also when students start work on the Applied Innovation Capstone Project, which helps them learn how to spot, define and capitalize on sources of competitive advantage.

Additionally, 30 to 40 international senior managers participate in two-week residence modules each year in key business centers, with a strong focus on emergent economies. Students will study the fundamentals of global management while learning from Rotman’s highly ranked faculty and building a network of international contacts.

Schulich School of Business – York University
Known as “Canada’s Global Business School” and ranked among the world’s leading business schools by a number of global surveys, the Schulich School of Business currently offers 19 specializations at the master’s level as well as part-time and accelerated degree options and is fully accredited with AICTE (India), AMBA (UK), EQUIS (Europe) and OCGS (Ontario). Schulich business students can earn a number of graduate degrees including MBA, Executive MBA, International MBA, MPA, MAcc, MF, MBA/JD, MS, MBA/MS and Ph.D.

According to the school, Schulich’s international MBA ensures that students enrolled in the program complete an international work term, hone proficiency in another language, and receive one-on-one personalized coaching to help create a professional development plan and build their personal brand. The program takes 20 months to complete on a full-time schedule. This degree program also features more than 20 MBA specializations, including international business, global mining management and global retail management. IMBA students are encouraged to add a second functional specialization to their degree.

Students who get their degrees from Schulich have gone on to work in more than 40 countries for multinational corporations, ranging from RBC Financial to Sony and Siemens, and multilateral organizations, such as Médecins Sans Frontières, the World Bank and the United Nations, as well as smaller entrepreneurial companies.

Ted Rogers School of Management – Ryerson University
The Ted Rogers School of Management (TRSM) was founded in 1948 as the Faculty of Business at the Ryerson Institute of Technology.It has since grown to encompass six schools of management and three graduate degrees—including two MBA degrees and one research-focused master’s degree. Since earning AACSB accreditation in 2011, TRSM has hired almost 40 new faculty members, the MBA programs have more than doubled their student intake, and undergraduate enrollment has increased 32 percent. The school’s MBA offerings include a MBA Global and an MBA in the Management of Technology and Innovation (MBA-MTI), with both full- and part-time formats.

Students enrolled in the MBA Global program gain an inclusive business management education that incorporates academic theory with practical and research-based learning styles. Core coursework includes “Strategy in International Business Environment,” “Managing in a Diverse World,” “Advanced International Marketing,” “Research and Communication for Managers” and more.

Students enrolled in TRSM’s Global Program also can specialize in either human resources management, international business, marketing, real estate, or mining and corporate social responsibility (CSR), which is a new specialization option. The mining and CSR specialization focuses on Canada’s influence in the global mining sector. The program aims to provide students with the know-how essential to mining-based positions in companies, government, the financial sector, the legal environment and elsewhere.
