Wilfrid Laurier Appoints Dr. Mitali De, New MBA Director

Recently, one of those professors, Dr. Mitali De, was appointed as the school’s new MBA Director.

Meet Dr. Mitali De

Dr. De is a Professor at the Lazaridis School as well as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo. She also served as the Associate Dean of Business: Academic Programs before her appointment as the MBA Director.

Dr. De’s academic background includes a Ph.D. and a MASc from the University of Waterloo as well as an MSc from the Indian Institute of Technology. She received her BSc from Madras University in India.

In 2006, De received the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce Professional Female of the Year Award. Her other achievements include being an Associate of the Institute of Canadian Bankers, and being selected to be the Canadian Resource Faculty by the Canadian Consortium of Management Schools for an international workshop on environmental management.

At Lazaridis, she serves on various university committees and is responsible for the development and maintenance of academic programs. During her tenure as Associate Dean, the school received Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AACSB) accreditation and introduced a new Ph.D. program in Management.

Outside of education, De has worked as a private sector consultant for environmental management systems and ISO 14000. Her research topics include optimization, decision support systems and environmental management systems.
