Judge Business School – University of Cambridge

History

Cambridge University entered the business education world in 1954, as other departments began to introduce management teaching in their curricula. From that mid-century point onward, interest grew in expanding the business education curriculum, which eventually led to the founding of the Cambridge Institute of Management Studies in 1990. This first iteration included MBA and M.Phil. programs.

In 1991, the Monument Trust and British businessman Sir Paul Judge, who was on the board of Barclays and the Director General of the Conservative Party in the U.K., funded the construction of the first building dedicated to the Institute of Management Studies, which opened in 1996, thus renaming the school as the Judge Institute of Management Studies.

Since the nineties, the Judge student body has grown considerably, which in turn required the addition of more space for the Institute. In 2005, the administration once again changed the name, this time opting for the current name, Cambridge Judge Business School.
