Chapman University Flexible MBA Program Structure

In contrast to its full-time counterpart, the Chapman University Flexible MBA program at Argyros School of Business offers students the ability to choose their own schedules and complete the program at their own pace. Classes meet one evening per week. The course can be completed as quickly as 21 months, but many students will need more time to complete requirements.

Students in this program can also choose to travel to destinations like Prague.


The Chapman University Flexible MBA curriculum has three main components: core/required courses, a capstone course, and elective courses. Students have the option to pursue “emphases” in their degrees, which are comprised of 12 credits in elective courses. Overall, students must complete 50 credits in order to graduate. The core courses comprise 31 credits, electives 15 credits, and the capstone course worth four credits.

Class Profile

The average student in the Chapman University Flexible MBA program enters with a GMAT score of 550 and an undergraduate GPA of 3.1. The minimum desired work experience is two years, and the average of incoming students is four.


Argyros has a dedicated Career Services Center right in Beckman Hall that offers daily drop-in hours, individual career counseling, and a graduate mentor program, which matches each graduate candidates with a working professional who provides guidance and direction. The Career Services Center also offers opportunities for students to engage with employers on campus through a speaker series, industry nights, office hours, coffee chats, and information sessions. Opportunities to interact with employers outside of campus include site visits, treks, dinners and lunches for eight, and tours.

Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid

The Chapman University Flexible MBA program costs $1,590 per credit, which puts the total tuition around $79,500, not including fees.

Chapman gives grants to those applicants who demonstrate exceptional merit. The criteria for grants include GMAT/GRE scores, work experience, undergraduate GPA, and other relevant experience. Grants start at $3,000 and can equal as much as full tuition. No separate application is needed to apply for grants, although those seeking grants are encouraged to apply early, given that the amount of grant money given each year is limited.


Chapman lists the following as required for an application for the Flexible MBA: an updated resume, completion of the online application, a personal statement (within the online application), your undergraduate transcript, a GMAT or GRE score, and two letters of recommendation. Interviews are conducted on the basis of invitation.

In addition, International applicants are required to submit their score on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Pearson Test of English (PTE), a copy of their diploma, and an international supplemental application form.
