Liautaud Graduate School of Business – University of Illinois at Chicago
History
University of Illinois’ MBA program was founded in 1969 and was endowed as the Liautaud Graduate School of Business at UIC in 2003, following a gift from the Liautaud Family. Jim Liautaud and his son Jimmy John, founder of Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shops, are both members of the UIC Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame.
UIC Liautaud is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB).
Location
All Liautaud business programs take place on the main UIC campus in downtown Chicago, which is located about 20 miles southeast of the O’Hare International Airport.
Facilities
Douglas Hall houses the College of Business Administration and its Liautaud Graduate School of Business. The 24,000-square foot, three-story, glass and reinforced concrete building is located at the heart of campus. It makes use of geothermal, photovoltaic, post-consumer products, and recycled rainwater technologies and has been awarded LEED Gold status by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Faculty
In the graduate business school, there are approximately 100 full-time and part-time faculty members grouped into the four academic departments of accounting, finance, information and decision sciences, and managerial studies.
Student Body
The Liautaud Graduate School of Business prides itself on bringing in classes with a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives. Overall, there are over 230 students in the MBA program. The average age of the students is 30 and have, on average, about six years of work experience.
MBA Degree Offerings
Liautaud offers both full-time and part-time MBA degrees. In addition, the school also offers a variation on the part-time options called the Weekend MBA and the Flexible MBA, which are designed for working professionals.
