Ivey Business School – Western University Canada - Executive MBA

Ivey Executive MBA Program Structure

The Ivey Executive MBA program at Western University Canada begins in either February or September. Classes are held once per month, for four days in a row, Thursday through Sunday, for a total of 15 months in the program, plus two additional months of summer break. Each of the three terms begins with a one-week residential module at the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre in London, Ontario. The remainder of the class modules takes place at the Tangerine Leadership Center in downtown Toronto. Students can also take part in an international trip.

Curriculum

The Ivey Executive MBA program is split into three terms. Each term has a number of themes associated with it. The first term, ‘Leading and Thoughtful Analysis’, focuses on competencies including accounting and marketing and encourages students to hone their analytic and communication skills. The second term, ‘Leading and Creating Value’, focuses on finance, operations, and sustainability. . The third term, ‘Leading Globally’, touches on the themes of the first two terms and explores the global strategy and international investments.

Students in the most recent Ivey Executive MBA class were, on average, 38-years old and had 15 years of work experience. Thirty-eight percent of the most recent class was female.

Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid

The cost of tuition for the 15-month Ivey Executive MBA program is $115,000 CAD. This cost includes meals and accommodation during the residence weeks, meals during class sessions, textbooks and case materials, accommodation, and travel during the Ivey international trip and team collaboration software. There are no application fees, but once a student has been accepted they are required to pay a $2,000 CAD deposit. The rest of the tuition is payable in three or more installments throughout the program. Students may pay through a corporate sponsorship through their current employer or by self sponsorship.

Admissions

Applicants to the Executive MBA program at Ivey must first submit their resume by email for review.

Within two days, they will review their skills and credentials and contact them to confirm eligibility. After review, the applicant will be advised if they need to complete the GMAT. Applicants get access to an admissions counselor once they start their application, and this counselor is available to answer any questions they might have throughout the process.

Along with the online application form, applicants must also submit answers to three self-evaluation questions; two reference evaluations forms–one from a peer and one from a supervisor; a letter of endorsement from their employer; two copies of their official post-secondary transcripts; and, if required, their GMAT and TOEFL scores. Applicants are not required to have an undergraduate or graduate degree, however, most have an undergraduate degree.

Application Deadlines

Applications are processed on a rolling basis, and both admissions and scholarship decisions are handed out between application deadlines.

The first stage of the admissions process is being considered for an interview, and the invitation is sent out with a week of a completed application. Admissions decisions are typically communicated within 2-3 weeks after the interview takes place.
